565. Arcane

I waited lifetimes for men to do what is right,

To seek truth, no matter how hard,

And light-up the ageless night,…

In search of each shard,

Of forgotten plight.

Yet, there’s no use in waiting for hope or justice,

When men seek what’s easy, not just,…

And sleep soundly at night, feckless,

As shadows are thrust,

In each orifice.

I waited lifetimes for no more than fantasy;

For when I look into the black,

It gazes back into me,

While those who won’t see,

Endlessly attack,…

And I grin, knowingly.

561. Estranged

I crossed mountains,

To warn of evil,

And you did not even care;

Then made friends with the devil,

And cast me out.

I crossed oceans,

To deliver you,…

To protect you, and to care;

Then you left and never knew,

I was drowning.

I crossed deserts,

To be by your side,

And quench your soul with hope;

And you rolled on as the tide,…

And left me there.

I crossed highways,

To run away to….

Nowhere in particular.

Desperately,…ran from you,…

And you let me.

560. Untouchable

I place my hands in front of you,

Though you do not see,

And I ask myself,

“Why do I do this to me?”.

I try and cry for sight,

In a world of the blind,

And expect to be seen,…

Out of sight,…out of mind.

I place my hands in front of you,

And you do not even know.

I wished for years to be like you,…

Now I’m just going to go.

537. Precensored

I don’t know why I bother.

Why do I even try?

To be a voice of reason?

When I’m no one, am I?

I’ve been ignored and forgotten,

Since the day that I was born.

I’m nobody to anyone,

So why foment even more scorn?…

By speaking out?… By caring?

For who has ever cared for me?

I’ve always been the outcast,

Within my society;

And yet I care about it all…

The people and politics.

I want the best for humanity’s future,

Though I know I can’t be the fix.

I am no one. I am pushed aside.

If I stand up for what’s right.

No one will care if I’m censored,

And fall forever out of sight.

Yet, I can not help but be myself,

An idealist through and through,

Who dreams and tries anyway;

Knowing no matter what humans do,

I will not have a say.

526. Coliseum

I long to write, though who will listen,

To the rantings of the insane?

The title merely grants invisibility;

And a face without a name,

In the coliseum of civility.

I wander through the crowds,

In the stands, where spectators watch,

As warriors and politicians,

Earn another scar or notch,

In the holding of their positions.

I stretch my hands out for scraps,

As they shoo me out of sight;

Though from here I see it all,

And know that none of this is right…

And soon all of us will fall.

Be it by starvation, wound, or pride.

We are all part of the show.

I may seem but a distraction,

Yet I’ve gone where others can not go;

And seen every angle of inaction.

For they play their parts quite well,

And the world moves to their plans.

I’ve seen every move and collapse,

As money changes hands,

And they fall in the same traps.

From the outside, I look in,

Year after year…Sin after sin.

I hold my voice, and hold my breath.

No one’s listening, so who can win?

We stand aside until death.

I look at you. Do you see me?

Are you looking? What do you see?

God’s play games, as day absconds.

Are you a God, or are you me?

Do you play games with human pawns?

For who can win an endless game?

And who can fight our mortal fate?

Though, in my eyes you’d find the sun,

So listen well, it’s getting late.

This entertainment is not fun!

And this game you can not win!

The only money, worth it, to spend,

Is found in the outstretched hand.

For the show continues long after curtain descends…

And only in the heart of another could you understand,…

All we have is each other in the end.
