603. Light of the World

I sat in the darkness,

All alone and unarmed.

For decades I cried,

While my soul was harmed.

No light could be seen,

From without or within,

‘Til I let go of the story,

That I’m born of man’s sin.

My soul then burst forth,

With the Light of God’s Love,

Radiant and Bright,

As I looked up above.

Humans kept me in dark,

And I’d be there still,

If I’d listened to their theories,

On God and His Will.

I went straight to the source,

And my soul lit the night.

I told the truth that I’d carried,

Knowing it was what was right.

Yes, I refused to stay,

Out of sight…Out of mind.

I am not a phantom,

For you to leave behind.

I am a human.

A child, just like you.

I’m a child of Light,

And so are you.

You do not belong here.

This place is not home.

This life is but struggle,

Yet, wherever you roam,

The Light is there…

For it is your own.

565. Arcane

I waited lifetimes for men to do what is right,

To seek truth, no matter how hard,

And light-up the ageless night,…

In search of each shard,

Of forgotten plight.

Yet, there’s no use in waiting for hope or justice,

When men seek what’s easy, not just,…

And sleep soundly at night, feckless,

As shadows are thrust,

In each orifice.

I waited lifetimes for no more than fantasy;

For when I look into the black,

It gazes back into me,

While those who won’t see,

Endlessly attack,…

And I grin, knowingly.

429. Voiceless

I went out to sea to find,

What lurks in the abyss.

Yet, what we seek we often find;

Ah, ignorance is bliss!

In the deep there was a form,

Within an inky cloud.

It’s tentacles: long and uniform,

Pulled me into it’s shroud.

I turned and saw two black eyes,

Darker than the darkness,

And set my jaw to utter cries,

Unheard. Unfelt. Useless.

In the cold and icy deep,

Where words distort and fail,

My voice returned unto it’s keep,

And my soul began to wail:

“Rest in peace! Rest in peace!”.

373. Weeping Willow

Weeping Willow

O’ Weeping Willow, why do you hate the daylight so?

Why do you cry to the sun and hang your head so low?

Do you want us all to feel the same way that you do?

Are you angry with the sun, which dries, then feeds you too?

O’ Weeping Willow, why do you love the darkness so?

Why do you wave and smile at the moon; and let your beauty show?

Do you love the dark because it hides your bitterness?

Does the night conceal your tears within it’s tranquil darkness?

O’ Weeping Willow, why do you exist to feel this way?

Why must you live to suffer so?

Why does it have to be this way?

Do you know where we all go when we turn to dust?

Weeping Willow won’t you cry for me too, when you meet my drifting dust?

The beauty of the universe,

Is truly a sight to behold.

There is joy to be found in many places,

And if I could be so bold…

I’d say: Beauty has many faces.

Even in the darkest of nights,

When shadows traverse the planet,

The universe is seen more dazzling and pure;

And all the stars which span it,

Only the darkness can confer.

True beauty is not found skin-deep.

Things which on the surface may seem,

Dark and depressing or freakish and bizarre,

May be just the things which beam,

And bare the most enchanting star.

You shouldn’t reject out of hand,

The beauty which lies in the dark.

You may find you’ve missed, what in life, is most grand:

Something which shines in the dark!

You may miss a new stars’ first spark.
