617. Chosen

I have known darkness.

I have known light.

I have known the morning.

I have known the night.

I have known creation.

I have known destruction.

I have known virtue.

I have known corruption.

I have known the uneven.

I have known the level.

I have known God.

I have known the devil.

I have known truth.

I have known lies.

I have known real.

I have known disguise.

I have known wrong.

I have known right.

I have known choice…

And have chosen Light!

604. Empowerment

Evil urgently seeks validation:

“Come hither, join,…agree,”

And grasps to near suffocation,…

Human souls, so desperately.

While Good needs no validation at all,

And ‘lone stands resolute.

For human hearts all know the call,

Of the morally absolute.

So stand alone…proud and strong. Do what’s right!

Strength is not in numbers,

Rather it’s in the Brightest Light,

To which darkness writhes and cowers.

For evil depresses,…

Good empowers.

473. Everyone Picks a Side

I wonder why I question why?

My whole life…over and over I try,

To understand, and bridge the gap,

‘Tween truth and lie;

But it’s all a trap.

When truth is found, it’s rarely heard;

And when lies drift, ears hear every word.

It’s not a question of wrong or right,

Rather what’s most absurd,

Is brought to light.

It’s been said that for evil to exist,

Good men must do nothing,…and insist,

That, “It’s best to just stay out of it”.

Yet if men want good to persist,

They can not simply ignore it.

If you speak, or not, you make…

A choice, for yours, or anothers’ sake.

There is no way to stay out of this,

For every person has a stake;

An opportunity to miss.

I wonder why I question why?

My whole life…over and over I try,

To understand why people look away,

And hold on tightly to every lie;

When all they have to do is play….

Rather than watch from the sidelines;

‘Til all is lost,…and then walk away.

433. I Walk Away from Yesterday

trees-1030853_1920-300x294

I walk away from yesterday,

With hope upon my back;

It weighs me down as I make my way,

Toward a future, and there is no turning back.

What if I can not take the weight,

Of what will and won’t be?

Will the journey be worth the fate,

That the choices made, will cultivate for me?

I know not where this path will lead,

Nor how to grasp each day.

All I know is it’s best to concede,

Then stand in place, never moving either way.

I walk away from yesterday,

With hope upon my back;

It weighs me down as I make my way,

Toward a future, and there is no turning back.

391. Resolution

He balances on the edge and walks,

The rusted railroad tracks,

And as he teeters-on, he talks…

To himself (as no one’s there).

How had the tracks, which seemed so straight,

Led him to this place?

Where winds tipped his weight,

O’er the edge of no return.

It’s funny how one simple choice,

Leads us down a path;

And how easy it is to follow that choice,

To the brink, without a thought.

One step and then another more.

Our fates, by steps, are set;

And even if we wish for more,

We can’t go back or regret.

He balances on the edge and walks,

The rusted railroad tracks,

And as the wind strengthens, he talks:

“Oh how I wish I’d looked up!”
