605. Valorous

Let me offer some hard-learned advice,

About struggle and sacrifice.

No matter how strong you are,

One day you will think twice,

And denounce every scar.

“Life is not worth living anymore”,

You will say…but you must endure!

For those few precious moments…

Of joyfulness…so pure.

Life’s in the experience,

So fight on with great valor!

575. I’ve Got My Own Back

I have nothing to say to you,

I’m stronger on my own.

I don’t need anything from you.

I prefer to be alone.

Humans usually want something;

They, are rarely selfless,

And I do not have anything…

To give up, so it’s useless.

I can appreciate some things,

Provided by the pack,

But the bite of betrayal stings,

And I’ve learned from each attack,

That I can not depend on you,

And I’ve got my own back.

543. Gravity

As the world crumbles,

So do we.

We are but victims of gravity…

Held down by outside forces.

We try our utmost,

And fight on,

Through each dark night, to get to the dawn…

Despite our insignificance.

As the planet turns,

So do we.

We are but victims of gravity…

Bound by corporeal law.

Digging tunnels leading nowhere…

Circling back in futile despair.

520. We Are One

Don’t tell us we are many,

For we know, we are one.

Like a colony, we work together,

To do what needs be done.

The distinction of each part,

Matters not upon the whole.

All that matters is that we agree:

Protection is the goal.

We build our walls together,

Or together we will fall.

All is for the one,

And one is for us all.

Arm in arm we stand,

Upon the battlefield,

Stronger in our defense,

With each interlocking shield.

Don’t try and divide our ranks.

Aim your bows and shoot!

For we know we’re stronger as one;

And are firm and resolute.

For each part is important,

And does what needs be done.

So, don’t tell us we are many,…

For we know, We are One!

484. Cornermen

photo-1559807232-7adaa1c756b7

No one needs you to fight for them.

They need you in their corner.

When they’re knocked down, and can’t get up,

And a loss is almost sure;

When they fear to get back up.

They need you to notice and stay.

To be there no matter what.

Who needs a friend who disappears,

When they get their deepest cut;

When they’re on the ground in tears.

They need you to simply care.

It’s really as facile as that.

Fighters need good corners there,

To help them up from the mat.

To tend to the wounds, but mostly,

To remind them they’ve got fight.

That they’ve got this. That they are strong.

That emotions are not trite…

Over-dramatic, or wrong;

Because falling is not failing,

And needing others isn’t weak.

For life knocks us all down sometimes,

Making us feel small and meek.

Everyone needs help sometimes.

No one needs you to fight for them.

They need you in their corner.

There are victories and defeats,

And oft’times a loss is sure.

Victories may fill the seats,

Yet losses are the surest way,

To assess how brave we are.

The only way to learn and grow,

Is to get out there and spar.

For struggle is not hollow.

Every person should feel assured.

That no matter where or when.

They’ll get through each imminent fight,

Thanks to their cornermen.
