15. Those Who Get It

universe

Some people seem to get it all, and all for free.

They never seem to have a fall, or pay a fee.

Their lives just seem to go, and go alright.

All their bills are paid and so they can sleep at night.

They look at those who are not and say they’re to blame.

They don’t have what they’ve got, so they’re not even close to the same.

They laugh at them for crying or being upset.

They criticize their sighing.

Why do they hold such regret?

It’s their life they control it, and in some ways they do;

But the truth is ‘God’ makes it fit.

‘He’ is life’s glue.

14. Now: Inevitability

clock

Now is all anybody has.

Each moment changes irreversibly,

Leaving us with:  “What’s meant to be”.

Time can’t stop nor be rewound.

There are no retakes to be had

The end result: someday…sad.

Now is all that we have.

There is spirit and life that dies,

Leaving us with too many goodbyes.

13. It

depression-hoodie

It’s always there,

Deep, deep, inside.

It’s always where,

It is easy to hide.

In it’s hiding it rests,

Slowly growing; growing.

Passing it’s tests,

To keep going, and going.

Then all at once it erupts,

From being contained so long.

Showing more downs, less ups,

Destroying hearts’ song.

12. Rain for You

Heavy Downpour

How can the patter of rain move your soul so?

And the silence of the earth turn your mind on low?

How can the sound calm your very core?

And lead you to rest at sadnesses’ flowing shore?

Yet, how can you yearn for it’s arrival, and still wish for it’s leave?

And be so needed by your soul to empty you with a heave?

11. The Finish Line of Life

finish-line

Look, there in the distance, it’s the finish line.

I’m running now, towards it, will victory be mine?

I don’t seem to be gaining,

I have time,

No worries.

Time is going so slowly,

Now there are flurries.

Seasons are passing with the setting suns.

I am growing weaker, weighing of tons.

Still, there in the distance the end lies.

No closer have I gotten it’s the same size!

All I can think is will I make it?

Down the road will that line, I hit?

It is so hard already and more?

How much longer to the end of this tour?

I try to stay strong, keep going.

With no gains to see, I’m slowing.

Can anything make this a bit easier?

“Maybe for others”, they say, “Not for her”.

So, it’s still there, the finish line.

An unsure course.

Will victory be mine?
